An Important Message from the ISKCON Book Minister

The Prabhupada Marathon is here, and it’s time to make an extra effort for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada. Some devotees, who are already doing full-time book distribution, will increase their time out as part of the Marathon, to get more mercy. Some devotees go out part-time throughout the year, and they’ll do more, and in some cases increase it to full-time distribution. I’ve met devotees who work throughout the year, but when December comes they take the month off and distribute books, which they say is not work, but fun. That’s why it’s called the nectar of book distribution. Some devotees don’t go out at all, all year, but when the Prabhupada Marathon comes, they set aside other things to distribute books.

During this fiftieth anniversary of ISKCON, I have heard so much appreciation of Srila Prabhupada’s coming to the West. What if Prabhupada had not come? Some of us may never have even heard the name of Krsna once. Taken prasada? I doubt it. Went on harinama? Highly doubtful. There’d be no association with devotees, and that is downright scary. No books explaining the philosophy and glories of Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. It’s for these reasons that there are some devotees who have been distributing books for over four decades. Gratitude.

Srila Prabhupada has given us so much. He once said, “You cannot repay me for what I have given you, I have given you Krsna. But if you want to try, then distribute books.” Prabhupada’s life was writing and distributing books, so if you want to do something to show your gratitude, distribute some books. As you’re distributing, pray to Srila Prabhupada for compassion
on the souls you distribute books to. People are suffering and this knowledge will free them from so much suffering and help them experience the unlimited happiness of Krsna consciousness.

Your servant,
Vijaya dasa

Take Part in the ISKCON 50/50 Campaign
Hare Krishna.
ISKCON Philadelphia is delighted and excited to launch the ISKCON 50/50 Campaign for 2016-17. This Campaign is an initiative to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ISKCON. Everyone is invited to join us and distribute 50 BBT books in 2016-17. That’s an average of just one book per week.
Srila Prabhupada founded the society in 1966 with a clear set of aims and objectives. His vision of a worldwide family of devotees is now 50 years old and well established as reality. Yet there is still a great need for devotees to continue to spread the mercy of Lord Chaitanya. The Lord distributes His mercy through the devotees so we can all become vessels of that mercy by passing it on.
All devotees, friends, supporters and followers of Srila Prabhupada are invited to join in with the book distribution campaign for 2016-17.
Please let us know if you would like to involve and distribute books for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada.
Thank you.
