Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Disappearance Day

  • Fasting Until Noon

Wednesday December 18th, is the Disappearance Day of Srila Prabhupada's spiritual master, His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur.

We will hold an  kirtan from 10 A.M. - 5 P.M. with Pushpanjali at 11:45 A.M.  There will be a special class on Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur as part of the Sunday Feast program.  We will observe a fast until noon.

He was a son of the acarya Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur and he entered this world to assist his father in propagating the pure teachings of Lord Caitanya.  He was known as a living encyclopedia due to his vast knowledge.  He was an expert in the presentations of Krishna Consciousness, and was known as the "Lion Guru" because he strongly debated and defeated castism and impersonal philosophy,  both prominent misconceptions and barriers to pure devotional service to Krishna.  It was Srila Bhaktisiddhanta who, upon their first meeting, gave the order to Srila Prabhupada to come west and preach Krishna Consciousness.
